Podcast S1 Intro: An Introduction to CAPA

Join Jane, Matt & Helen for our first podcast, including an introduction to Capa First Response CIC. We will explain what ‘CAPA’ means and the types of behaviours families experience.

In the first episode of The Capa Podcast we introduce you to your hosts Jane, Matt & Helen. We discuss the types of behaviours we’ll be looking at and some of the themes we’ll be tackling in Series 1 of The Capa Podcast.

⁠Capa First Response’s Vision: To stop harmful and/or aggressive behaviour in the home from a child or adolescent towards a parent or caregiver; For no parent or caregiver to feel alone in their experience  and for whole families to have access to the support they need to improve their family situation.

Capa First Response’s Mission: To facilitate development of a nation-wide network of consistent, accessible, quality support for families, and to raise awareness amongst families and professionals around children/adolescents who use harmful and/or aggressive behaviour towards a parent/carer.

In the coming months, thousands of teenagers across the UK will sit their GCSEs. It’s the culmination of years of schoolwork and, for many, a gateway to the next stage of life. But for some young people, it doesn’t feel like that at all.  Instead, exam season can bring fear, anxiety, pressure, and conflict—especially at home.
Many parents are finding themselves in daily battles. Conversations about revision turn into shouting matches. Doors slammed. Tears shed. Some young people may even tip into behaviour that feels unacceptable or unsafe—verbal and physical aggression, or complete withdrawal.
At Capa First Response, we work with families every day who are walking this exact path. And we want you to know this: there is nothing wrong with your parenting. This is hard. For all of you.
