We are so pleased to share that The Capa First Response Podcast is back with a brand-new season, created to support families who are experiencing Child-to-Parent/Carer Aggression and Harmful Behaviour (CAPA/CAPVA). Thanks to funding from East Sussex County Council, we are able to continue offering free, accessible support through honest conversations, strategies, and shared experiences.
As an organisation, we know how isolating and misunderstood CAPVA can feel. Families often tell us they are ashamed, scared, or unsure where to turn. Our podcast is here to break that silence, shine a light on the realities of CAPVA, and offer practical strategies (with visual prompts) that can help reduce violence, rebuild trust, and bring connection back into homes.
This season, we will be talking about:
-
How to make safety plans and manage risk during incidents
-
The strategies we use to support positive change and reconnection
-
Tackling shame, isolation, and the loss of community
-
Where to find services, resources, and direct support from Capa First Response
Our first season is already available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and on our website, and the new season launches this September. We are also excited to say that a third season is already planned, featuring guest voices from both families and professionals.
At Capa First Response, we believe no parent or carer should have to face CAPVA alone. We were founded in 2019 to fill the gap in specialist support for families, and since then we’ve worked with parents of children up to 18, and up to 25 where there is a neurodivergent diagnosis. Alongside the podcast, our services include one-to-one support, online drop-in sessions, and professional training.
If you are a parent or carer experiencing CAPVA, or a professional working alongside families, we hope this podcast will give you knowledge, compassion, and hope. Please listen, share, and reach out if you need support. Find information for families here.
Here’s what to expect – and this season you can both listen AND watch!
