Three Faces and Dysregulation – Season 2 Episode 1

The Capa Podcast: Three Faces and Dysregulation – Support for Families Experiencing CAPA

If you are a parent or carer struggling with Child Against Parent Aggression (CAPA), you are not alone. The new season of The Capa Podcast is created especially for families who are living with these challenges and looking for understanding and support. This season you can listen or watch, with helpful graphics included to support your understanding.

The opening episode, “Three Faces and Dysregulation”, explores how children and young people may express distress through three different “faces”. These can include aggression, withdrawal, or other difficult behaviours that put pressure on family relationships. By recognising these patterns as signs of dysregulation rather than deliberate defiance, parents and carers can begin to respond in ways that bring connection instead of conflict.

The podcast is hosted by Jane and Matt from Capa First Response CIC, who speak directly to families with warmth and empathy. Their aim is to validate parents’ experiences while offering practical strategies that can help repair relationships and reduce stress at home.

Professionals working with families will also find this episode valuable, both for their own practice and as a resource to recommend to parents and carers they support.

This season of The Capa Podcast is funded by East Sussex County Council, helping to bring accessible, free guidance and hope to families everywhere. Read more about this season: Season 2 of The Capa Podcast
