A daughters poem for her parents

A huge thanks to this family for allowing us to share this poem, written by their daughter after they received support from us. You can read the poem or listen to it being read (by an actress) below.

“We have no hesitation to share these words, especially if they give hope for doubting parents. Your meetings have changed the support we can give her which in turn has created a happier home.

Her words still bring tears to our eyes every time we read it.”

To  my parents,

I don’t say it enough but,

Thank you.

For every late night,

Every early morning

Every sacrifice you thought I didn’t notice.

For the times you went without so I could have enough

For every ‘I’m fine’ you said when I know you  was tired.

You taught me what it means to give without expecting anything back.

How love is shown in a thousand quiet ways

The hardest days worked

The dreams you set aside

The love you gave unconditionally.

Growing up I thought you were unbreakable

that you had all the answers but now I see

you were just doing your best

Just trying to make it all work.

I carry the pieces of you in me.

The lessons, the kindness, the strength you showed everyday.

So, even if I don’t say it often.

Thankyou for being my first home my safest place,

and for loving me in ways I’m still trying to understand.
